Live Art Brainstorm K. Vetsiou, M. Santorineos, S. Zoi Fournos Lab, Multimedia Laboratory of Athens School of Fine Arts
The project highlights the evolution of digital storytelling within extended reality environments, utilizing electroencephalography (EEG) technology. An experimental mechanism combining Extended Reality technology with an EEG headset was developed to explore new avenues ininteractive expression.

The participant enters a multisensory hybrid environment within a cinema hall, accompanied byνother visitors. Wearing a commonly available EEG headset, participants are immersed in a virtual world of narrative imagery and stimuli, which they are invited to influence solely through their level of attention, as measured in real time by the  device. The results are projected onto the cinema screen, while the stimuli are developed in the surrounding physical space throughspecial lighting, sound, and the involvement of other visitors, creating a feedback loop thatfurther influences the mental state of the interacting subject

Inside the Image – Dans l’image – Inside the Image- Reenacting cinema through extended media”
An event with project presentations and speeches on the research topics about how cinema spaces should be adapted at the time when the spectators are inside the image. Two-hour sections are created from streams of 12 different interactive projects, across the entire spectrum of Extended Reality. The works of each stream are presented in sequence with the participation of spectators or performers and are simultaneously projected on the cinema screen. VR/MR technologies are used in combination with artificial intelligence and computer vision technologies.

After research and experimentation, the successful interactive [with physical tools and actors] play for children “Apple sugar Cinnamon ” which has been successfully performed for 15 years at the Fournos Center Theater is transferred to a digital APP game for smart devices. It is a digital interactive educational quiz game for children from 3 to 6 years old and their parents

Digital game (App) created by Eleanna Santorinaiou

This is an exhibition-installation-narrative environment, using new media, which negotiates the relationship betweencinema and computers in the pre-PC era and the contemporary digital environment. The project was developed in all the spaces of an old art cinema “ALPHAVILLE” with the theme of a dialogue between Godard’s science fiction film Alphaville and contemporary digital technologies. The viewer was able to wander through this environment and interact with the digital works. In the room dedicated to the future, visitors could interact with anAI chatbot that was appropriately configured in collaboration with researchers from the Intelligent Systems Laboratoryof the University of the Aegean.

Venue: Old Alphaville cinema, Fournos theater, December 2021-January 2022.

The Global Earth Artistic Project belongs to the category of large-scale artworks. It uses the entire space of the earth,
as scanned by satellites, and through Geo-located Augmented Reality technology, it investigates ways to transform
this space into an exhibition space.

Within the framework of the Center Fournos activities, original research and productions were carried out. The helicopter house project,
inspired by an idea for a flying house of the creator Manthos Santorineos’ five-year-old son, is the first Greek artistic VR project in a CAVE type system.

Micro Museum was created for the needs of the Mediaterra 2001 Festival, which had the form of a travelling Festival. It was a small flexible construction, which thanks to contemporary technology (of 2000) had the ability to contain and transport, a large number of artworks, a digital library, interactive works and video  projections,  creating  virtual  and  physical  friendly  spaces  of  communication  and assembly .The  Micro  Museum  made  a  symbolic  ourney:  Athens – Lavrio – Sofia – Belgrade – Maribor – Frankfurt. In each city, scientists, intellectuals and artists of the region participated in special events.
All along the way, through one of the first teleconferencing technology for the wide public with a connection for more than four people, it enabled the participating centers to take part remotely and mainly with the CICV in France, creator of this particular type of teleconferencing with moving image which they called Next-movies.

2000 Mediaterra festival 2000 Collaborative NET ART Project

Was the first Art and Technology Festival in Greece, which focused on both the center and the periphery. It also gave as much
importance to the content (narrating in digital ways) as to the medium and helped to start a dialogue between the artist and the scientist. Important works were presented to the publicfrom the international field and its conference catalogs are still cited.
