Fournos, or the Multivalent Communication Network as it is officially named, is a flexible and many-sided organization in the heart of Athens dedicated to contemporary art and the questions it raises. Viewing technology as a Promethean gift from which anyone can benefit, the organization was a leader in familiarizing the Greek public with digital culture in the 1990s. It produces and/or hosts works of digital art, researches social and artistic phenomena, and provides inspiration for activities based in its physical premises and extending far beyond its walls. Its central axis is narration through digital technology, especially in theatre and performance. It places special emphasis on children and the child's relation to art.
Fournos is currently extending its Digital Culture activities through a research and production laboratory, FournosLab 2021.
